Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) 

DVR provides vocational assistance and support to eligible individuals to get and keep employment. Eligibility is based on the presence of one or more disabilities that represent a substantial barrier to employment for which the individual requires vocational rehabilitation interventions to enter or keep employment. 

Highlights: 

  • Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling: Assessment of individualized plans for employment. Counselors help identify resources for obtaining services needed to reach participants’ job goal. 
  • Suitability for Participant: Vocational rehabilitation services help participants assess job skills and find jobs suitable in accordance with their strengths and skills.
  • Hands-on case managers: Case managers provide further guidance to assist eligible individuals with significant disabilities prepare for and achieve employment. Case managers may also conduct follow-up and post-employment services to ensure continuity of employment of participants. 
  • Training, education, and supplies: DVR supports post-secondary training and education programs. Assistance includes books, supplies, equipment, devices, and assistive technology that will equip participants for success. 
  • Placement support: Placement support includes assistance with resumes, job applications, interview skills, on-the-job training assistance, job search, and job placement. 
  • Medical and psychological services: DVR includes the provision of medical or psychological evaluation services to identify work potential and to ensure job accessibility. These services also include purchase of therapeutic treatment, counseling, or prescription drugs.
