CBRA works to provide long-term sustained housing support, working in tandem with Medicaid-supported Housing Program. Those who seek out our supported housing are assessed to identify if they qualify for funding.
Safe, stable, and affordable housing is a foundation that mental health and wellness, independence and self-sufficiency can rest on. Bridgeways’ Community Housing Stability and Support Program (CHSS) helped 68 individuals who were previously homeless, maintain their affordable housing during 2019. CHSS has been partially funded by Snohomish County’s 1/10 of 1% Sales Tax supporting Mental Health and Chemical Dependency services since program inception in 2010.
Shortage of affordable housing in Snohomish County.
Maintaining existing housing is so critical. Bridgeways’ clients receiving supportive housing services are living in very low-income situations. They may have a history of evictions and legal troubles; lack positive relationships, family, or community supports. The Housing Consortium of Everett and Snohomish County’s “Housing Snohomish County Project” published in April of 2018 reports that the inventory of income-restricted homes or vouchers in Everett available for households with up to 50% Area Median Income consists of 2,765 units. Yet the need for Everett households at or below 50% AMI is 16,407.
